Join us as we kick off the return of Friday Nights at the de Young! This special Fall season runs for nine Fridays from September 28-November 23. All Friday nights will feature reduced admission to the special exhibition Contemporary Muslim Fashions, and free admission to the main-level galleries. Advance tickets to the exhibition are recommended and can be purchased below.

On Friday, September 28, we get our series started at 6pm with Dholrhythms Dance Company, the Bay Area favorites behind "Non Stop Bhangra." They'll bring Bhangra music and dance to Wilsey Court with their production "Colors of India," including a Bhangra dance lesson.

At 7 pm we welcome Mona Haydar for a spoken word performance followed by Q+A. Mona Haydar is a rapper, poet, and activist known for social projects like "Ask A Muslim," and the feminist anthem "Wrap My Hijab."

A selection of food and drink will be available from the museum cafe, including halal choices and creative non-alcoholic "mocktails."

Inspired by the art and fashion of the show? Get your creativity on at our art-making station in the Piazzoni Murals Room. And make sure to check out the beautiful products at the Museum Store Trunk Show with local fair-trade company 12 Small Things, featuring textiles from Muslim artisans.
